Overview

Developing the Capacity for Sustained Improvement (DCSI) focuses on strategic thinking and capacity building for sustained improvement by:

creating space for strategic thinking
understanding the key components of capacity building
identifying a coherent approach to the next stage of the improvement journey
planning for long term and sustained development
addressing current issues within the context of each school’s unique context
engaging with the programme over a period of 12 months, thereby securing greater impact

The programme has been successfully piloted with several hundred leadership teams from all phases and at all levels of performance. It has received two very positive independent evaluation reports from the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER).

The model itself is based on an extensive evidence base derived from international research.

By focusing action on an identified programme… the leadership team validates its own purpose for operating as a team.

Eligibility

DCSI is available to:

senior leadership teams (SLTs) from primary, middle, secondary and special schools and pupil referral units
SLTs in partnerships, collaboratives and related groups
SLTs working with middle leaders
leadership teams representing collaborative partnerships of schools
