Advanced Diploma of School Business Management (ADSBM)

This programme is currently being developed to provide school business managers (SBMs) with the skills to operate at an advanced school business manager (ASBM) level. It will be offered as one of the College’s suite of school business management programmes. We plan to pilot this during autumn 2008.

The programme content is currently being researched and written by Serco Learning, the College’s provider for this programme. We believe it will contain six modules covering the following areas:

• organisational transformation
• performance management
• programme management
• strategic financial management
• organisational leadership
• enabling teaching and learning

The programme will last approximately 12 months and will be delivered within a blended learning environment. This will include face-to-face workshops, online learning modules and self-directed study.

Recruitment of participants for the pilot programme will take place over the next few months. We envisage at this early stage that applicants should:

• hold the DSBM qualification or an equivalent NVQ level 5 qualification
• be a school business manager within a state-maintained school
• be a full member of the school’s senior management team (SMT)
• be available to attend face-to-face workshops
• be able to demonstrate that their current or emerging role requires the level of skills and competencies expected for this programme
• have access to an internet-enabled computer for the duration of the programme so that work can be completed and submitted as appropriate
• have the written support of their headteacher and chair of governors at their supporting school
