Carrie O'Connor - Talking Point

Carrie O’Connor, a director at the specialist Leadership division of Hays Education, has been working with NCSL for more than three years to offer practical support and coaching to NPQH candidates on the path to becoming a headteacher. After carrying out nearly 1,000 consultations, Carrie and her team were able to identify the common problems experienced by many aspiring headteachers when faced with their headship interview. In this video, she tackles those problems and offers advice on improving your performance at headship interview.

About Carrie O’Connor

Carrie O’Connor is national strategic director for Hays Education. She has worked closely with NCSL over the past three years, coaching hundreds of NPQH graduates to be better prepared for headship interviews.

A director at Hays since 2007, Carrie was previously in charge of their Leadership Appointments and International Schools divisions. Her role with Leadership Appointments saw her work with local authorities and governors on headteacher recruitment.

Carrie has 14 years’ experience of recruitment consultancy and a degree in English and Philosophy from Bristol University.
