Registration for primary leadership events is now closed.
Following on from the Using and analysing data events held during 2007-2008, NCSL’s Strategic Initiatives Primary team and partners from the National Strategies are holding two more events to explore and develop further understanding of performance data and its implications for assessment for learning, target setting and school self-evaluation.
These events are intended for primary and junior school leaders involved in analysing data, setting targets and evaluating whole school performance. Facilitators from NCSL and National Strategies will lead the events and will draw on the latest updates to RAISEonline as well as key national publications – for example ‘Making good progress at Key Stage 2’ (Department for Children Schools and Families, January 2008) and ‘Making great progress – schools with outstanding rates of progression in Key Stage 2’ (Department for Education and Skills, June 2007).
These events have now taken place.
Making sense of data repeated the successful Using and analysing data events run for school leaders with very positive evaluations. It improved participants’ knowledge and understanding of RAISEonline to assist schools in monitoring performance and setting targets for individuals and groups of pupils, and encouraged and enabled school leaders to understand the principles that underpin RAISEonline and the implications for schools of the Public Service Agreement (PSA) education targets. Participants practised skills and knowledge application using both anonymous data and that of their own schools, and gained increased knowledge, understanding and confidence in the use of data.
The day will include an update on the contents of 2008 RAISEonline as well as further exploration of the interactive functions. Participants will consider the use of data in the context of Assessing Pupil Progress and Assessment for Learning, as well as for tracking progress and cohort evaluation. Participants will be able to practise skills and apply learning using both anonymous data and that of their own schools.
