Community Leadership Network

The 2007 Community Leadership Network ‘programme’ follows on from last year’s pilot programme and continued to work with 7 of the original 20 networks, focusing on their work developing leadership in their locality across schools, communities and other agencies. Each network was allocated an NCSL trained facilitator to work alongside them attending meetings, providing a knowledge capture service and offering facilitation if required.

Aims

The Community Leadership Network Action Research project aims to:

  • Capture developing leadership models and solutions that meet the needs of extended schools and promote multi-agency integrated practice.
  • Provide expert facilitation and development opportunities for network participant
  • Develop case studies and tools for future application.
  • Ensure all knowledge captured is fully available on ECM Leadership Direct, ECM & Standards online learning resource.
  • Gather evidence of shared leadership at community and school level that transforms children’s achievement and well-being and that of their families and wider community.
  • Promote the development of networks and networked learning that extend beyond schools to include the community and other agencies and organisations.

A combined event for members of the networks was held in Stratford-upon-Avon on 9–10 July 2007 providing attendees with an opportunity to share examples of good practice and discuss issues, challenges and successes. Several key note speakers attended including Elaine Applebee (Chief Executive, Bradford Vision) and Maggie Farrar (Operational Director for ECM & Standards, NCSL).
